The official opening of Cromwell Point Lighthouse was performed on a Sunday 2nd June 2013, by the Valentia Island community group, The Commissioner of Irish Lights and the Kerry County Manager. KARG was represented at the opening, and demonstrated CW as well as providing information about KARG activities and amateur radio in general. A working Aldis lamp was also demonstrated to show visual CW to visitors, and was well received also. There was a lot of interest shown from both young and old, and hopefully KARG will see a few extra members in the future.
A lot of interest was also shown in having a live working HF station to demo for visitors, so a few fields days and volunteers will be required to make this possible.
Visitors are always welcome to join KARG on our field days in various parts of the county, and at Cromwell Point Lighthouse, where various modes of communication can be seen in action, such as CW (Morse Code), Voice and Digital Modes. Any member can be contacted for further information on field days.
The next KARG club meeting will be held at Muckross cafe at 11am on last Saturday in June (29th)
