The Kerry Amateur Radio Group intend to participate in the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend this year.

As usual it is proposed to operate from our usual location at Cromwell Point lighthouse, Valentia Island, Co. Kerry. This will be the 7th year that the club has operated from the lighthouse (with kind permission from the Commissioner of Irish Lights) and this time we are asking club members to mark the weekend in their diaries. The dates for the ILLW are 18th & 19th August, full details of the ILLW event are available at www.illw.net

The lighthouse number for the event is IRE001.

As usual antennas will be provided for the event and any club member who wishes to bring operating equipment is very welcome to do so. It is proposed to erect several single band antennas and at least one multiband antenna, with operations proposed on as many bands as possible. The club band pass filters will be used at this event which have proved very successful in past years allowing multiple stations to operate without interference to each other at a location where real estate is relatively limited for antenna erection.

Operation will be on as many HF bands as propagation allows as well as 6mtrs which as proven very successful during past activations at this location. SSB, CW & data stations are proposed for this years operation and if weather conditions allow, a portable SSB station is also proposed in the outer compound area.

Club members with any ideas for this event are invited to make them known and any member who cannot attend for the full event is encouraged to come to the station and operate for a period of time as they wish. Club members wishing to attend for the full weekend and bringing equipment are encouraged to make known what they are bringing so all members operating preferences can be accomatated.

Let's make this 7th activation of the site the most successful to date and have a memorable weekend.
