KARG members had a very successful weekend at Cromwell Point Lighthouse IE0001 for ILLW 2014. Two stations were set up and tested early on Friday evening, and manned into the small hours of both mornings, and throughout both days, which resulted in over 500 QSOs and 55 Countries, all on SSB modes.

This was the first outing for the recently awarded additional club call  EI1K. This call proved very popular, and many pileups were worked over the weekend.

Lots of visitors to the Lighthouse were welcomed by KARG members, and visitors had the opportunity to see a live HAM stations, and learn about this fascinating hobby. International visitors came from USA, Canada, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Australia and Japan.

The WX was excellent over the entire weekend, and overall everybody thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.

Already, plans are being put in place for a bigger effort for ILLW 2015, where we hope to have additional stations running data modes and CW, as well as SSB.

KARG would also like to thank the Lighthouse tour guides for being very accommodating and helpful over the entire weekend.

Next KARG club meeting will be held at Muckross House Cafe in Killarney on Sat 30th Aug at 11am.
As always new members and visitors are very welcome.
